If you have been arrested for driving under the influence, you may think you have no chance of avoiding a harsh criminal sentence, but the case against you might be weaker than it first appears. There are certain steps you can take that might help your Boston criminal attorney successfully defend you.
If you attempted field sobriety tests, bring the shoes you were wearing to your attorney so that he can evaluate them. After, the heel-to-toe test or the one-leg-raise test are essentially balancing tests. High heels, cowboy boots, work boots, etc., may interfere with your ability to maintain your balance. Shoes with little support, such as sandals, can also make balance tests more difficult. Avoid wearing them any further if you can, because your attorney might want to admit them as evidence at your trial. If they have changed significantly since your arrest, they might be deemed inadmissible at trial.
Provide your Woburn OUI/DUI lawyer with all the names and contact information of the persons who saw you throughout the evening of your arrest, including those you spent time with before you began drinking. Your attorney will want to interview these witnesses within a reasonable amount of time following your arrest. Though having friends or co-workers contacted by your attorney may be embarrassing, the recollections of these witnesses may prove critical to your defense.
